The Cypress Falls High School marching band finished as one of 14 finalists among 63 total bands at the Bands of America Super Regional, Nov. 4-5 in San Antonio.
Nov. 7, 2016—The Cypress Falls High School marching band placed 14th overall in the finals of the Bands of America (BOA) Super Regional, held Nov. 4-5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Competing against 62 other bands from across Texas, Cypress Falls scored an 84.55 in the preliminary round of competition to advance to the 14-band final competition.
Cypress Falls was one of two Houston-area finalist representatives.
The Cypress Falls High School marching band placed 14th with a score of 82.40 in the finals of the Bands of America Super Regional, Nov. 4-5 in San Antonio.
“This is by far the most competitive BOA Super Regional in the country and we are extremely excited to have been named a finalist at this prestigious event,” said Shawn McAnear, Cypress Falls band director. “The kids were very professional, gave two amazing performances and represented CFISD at the highest level.”
Prior to 2016, Cypress Falls made the finals at the Bands of America Super Regional, held in Atlanta, in 2013 and 2015.
Sixth-three marching bands competed in the Bands of America Super Regional in San Antonio Nov. 4-5, with the Cypress Falls band finishing as one of 14 finalists.
“Hearing our name called as a finalist at this event was such an emotional and thrilling experience—one that I definitely will never forget,” said Ashley Flood, senior drum major.
The Cypress Falls marching band returns to the Alamodome on Nov. 8 to compete in the UIL State Marching Band Competition at 7:45 p.m.
