Oct. 26, 2016—The District 17-6A volleyball season concluded on Oct. 25 with four of the 10 teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.

Cypress Falls and Langham Creek high schools tied for the District 17-6A championship with identical 15-3 records, while Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods high schools tied for third place with 13-5 records.

Langham Creek conceded the No. 1 playoff seed to Cypress Falls, while Cypress Ranch won a coin flip with Cypress Woods to earn the third seed.

The four teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A bi-district playoffs with the following matchups:

  • Cypress Falls will face either Houston Heights or Houston Carnegie Vanguard, who will meet on Oct. 28 to determine playoff eligibility, on Nov. 1:
    • if facing Carnegie, the Golden Eagles will play at the HISD Pavilion (7525 Tidwell Road) at 6 p.m;
    • if facing Heights, the match will be played at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) at 8 p.m.
  • Langham Creek will meet Houston Lamar on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Berry Center;
  • Cypress Ranch will match up with Houston Westside on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at Spring Branch ISD’s Coleman Coliseum (1050 Dairy Ashford Road); and
  • Cypress Woods will face Bellaire High School on Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum.

Tickets for all playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (adults and students).
