Seniors- Opening/Closing Graduation Remarks

Hello Class of 2020,

I wish I could be talking to you under different circumstances, but here we are.  Know that we have NOT forgotten about you.  Whether graduation is in May or July, we are still planning for you to have the best graduation yet.

Part of the graduation commencements is the opening and closing remarks.  Normally, we would have the senior student body choose who you would like to give the opening and closing remarks.  This year, we have to do things a little different.  If you would like to be considered to give the opening or closing remark, follow the instructions / guidelines below.  A panel of administrators, counselors, and teachers will determine who will be chosen to state the opening and closing statements at graduation.

Guidelines:

  1. The opening and closing statements must be NO more than 2 minutes in length.
  2. The topic of the opening and closing remarks shall be related to the purpose of the graduation ceremony and to the purpose of marking the opening and closing of the event; honoring the occasion, the participants, and those in attendance; bringing the audience to order; and focusing the audience on the purpose of the event.
  3. The opening and closing statements can be a prayer or an inspirational thought.  Keep in mind that we all come from different paths of life.
  4. Make a video of you of saying/reading the opening or closing remarks.
  5. Send the video to my email: [email protected]  Be sure that you write your name, ID#, phone number where I can reach you, and if you are trying out for the opening or closing remarks.
  6. All videos must be sent no later than April 20th at 2:00pm
  7. The chosen seniors will be notified by April 24th
